a ufo - in every sense of the word

UFO :: an unidentified flying object (any unrecognizable flying vehicle)
UFO (crafting parlance) :: an unfinished object

I've been busy UFO'ing for the Elsie Marley Mobile Swap. My pieces are nearly ready to fly, now I just have to work out how to let them...then I can pop it in the FO category (in both senses of the word) and be done

I wanted to make something really light and kind of drifty as it is destined to live outdoors (in a warm and rainlight place thankfully - wish I could go too!) and I like the idea that it will waft and wave as the breeze dictates

I think I have managed that light'n'driftiness through my rather, ahem, random choice of materials... featuring old sweaters and goats milk cartons...what can I say? it came to me in a dream ...well if I am honest I was stressing so much about it that I couldn't get to sleep when my poor deprived old brain fastened on old milk cartons as the obvious solution to everything that worried me and once I had chanced upon this perfect solution I drifted off like the proverbial baby - the really peculiar thing is that I then fastened on this and went ahead with it in the cold light of day. Hmm, weird...

The overiding question now assailing my brain is how to get that weight (or rather, lack of) balanced...?

I'll welcome any hints or tips on how to move this little lovely from UFO to FO so if you've sucessfully finished a mobile let me know what you did with that scary top bit, please....

Other news, following on from Jodie at RicRacs brave announcement (great news!) I will also "say it out loud" - I have set up an etsy shop and am working on some little bits and pieces to put in there. Watch this space...

Can't wait to see what you put on your Etsy shop!
Hmmmm as for weighting for your mobile, maybe fishing line sinkers or wire wrapped smooth pebbles.

Hmm. A chain/string of beads? Buttons?

ooooh, now look at that. I was expecting actual cartons on a string (which was a little scary...but could be good...somehow) but this I am liking. Can't help with the weighting, I'd go for luck - I swear by it! ;)

And can you hurry purlease with the shop, thanks.

Ah, congratulations on setting up an Etsy shop - I can't wait to see what goodies it holds.

No tips on the ufo, but can't wait to see the final thing. x
