another happy day...

a lovely gift from jackie in conneticut, a very talented quiltmaker (the quilt on the front of the card is one of hers - don't need to say more do I?)

and a little bit of recycling crafting to meet Meridian's challenge

I've always wanted a needle book, and making one out of some old felted sweaters felt much better than spending a tenner on a Cath Kidston dainty. This is an ongoing challenge that I'll be returning to again and again I suspect, why not join us?

I love the little bow at the back - I was aiming for a kind of vintage lingerie look and by jove I think I've got it!

Other than that, life had been busy. Smallfry 1 is on half term so has been putting me through my paces. We visited Vauxhall City Farm today and stroked some rabbits, oinked at some pigs, listened to hiphop with a couple of ferrets and chased a cow and a bull around a field. Things I don't normally do every day, believe it or not.

I've also started up a little art club for local kids - it's something I've been mulling over for a long time now, children in the UK don't get much opportunity to be artistically creative at school so I'm hoping to plug that gap in my own slight way. Had my first half day session with 4 kids last week and we had a lot of fun. Next one is tomorrow...wish me luck...

Really cute needlebook - I love the lilac and green together.
Art club sounds like a great idea!
Enjoy your half term!

love the needlebook!, glad to read your first arty session went well, you are right about there not being enough creating taught in schools, it is one of my husbands biggest bug bears about lucy's school. they don't have any paints, and it's all to do with the fact that the classroom is carpeted and paint would make a mess!!

Lilac and green are timeless - they look so good together. Your art club sounds like a great idea as well. What will you be creating?

Soo glad you received your goodies!! Love the needlebook, it is a great way to keep your needles in one place, something I have great trouble with.

Don't get me started on the state of the education system - I'll rant for hours!
On a cheerful note - I love the needle case, and especially the little bow on the back.
(I am also very envious of your parcel from Jackie the quilt lady, and of the art club).

Art club!
I used to be a preschool teacher (teaching anything but art) before coming to the U.S. But what I really really REALLY would love to have had been assigned to was messy, crafty art.
I'm so glad to hear about your art club... I now can live vicariously.

I like you needlebook, and this is such a funny coincidence. I made and posted about my felted needle book on February 20, one day before you did!

Makes me want to make one for myself. I usually just stick my needles into a piece of paper lying around on my table...
