a short post about knitting...

Here is the great reveal of my nephew Isaac's knitted gift as he has now received it all the way over there in the land of Switz...it's a kimono cardi (I call it) based on this baby bulky asymmetrical cardi pattern (scoot down the page a bit and you will find it - is a great pattern) The yarn is blue sky alpaca organic dyed cotton, in Fern and 'twas knit on 6mm (harmony options) needles...

apparantly it is a big hit with the little tyke...

awh shucks...............

I have some bad news to report on the knitting front however.I was at a conference in Liverpool recently and brought another kimono cardi I was working on with me to while away those train hours there and back ( this time in a lush purple bamboo yarn...oooh, my mouth waters at the memory). I made it back to London only to find that I'd left my knitting bag on the train somehow (it was late, the train was crowded, I was tired). Numerous calls to various lost property departments have yielded nothing and I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that I've lost an almost complete cardi, along with a couple of sets of harmony needles and cables, and various bits of knitting paraphanelia that happened to be in the bag (that I have lovingly accumulated over my knitting career).I couldn't bring myself to report this until now as it would have ended with me bawling and wailing over the computer. I've gotten through this post without drowning the laptop in tears so I must be coming through it at last (excuse me while I run outside and scream, LOUDLY)

Ahem, back now. Thanks for waiting.

The fact that my (well rather Katy's) teacosy was featured on cuteable this week has helped in my recuperation...thanks Lynsey

I'll be back shortly with a report on what I liked at Origin, which I dragged a rather unwilling Ms Bester around yesterday morning...it was fun, in that unique way that craft shows and irritated (because they are not at a playground or eating icecream) small children can be...

A - cute green cardi, love the buttons.
B - big huge bummer about the purple one and the rest of the bag. I'm feeling a bit similar as I seem to have left behind one panel of a cardi I'm making for Eleanor at the coffee shop, walking home, at work???? Not sure. All I know is it's missing. At least it's only half of what I've knitted so far unlike your whole sweater - Oh so sad!

Aww, that little cardigan is so precious! I love the stitch! I'm so sorry to hear about your bag AnnieB, maybe though it ended up in someone's hands that had long ago given up the art of knitting because of family demands and now they are totally blessed by it and will do amazing things with it! Or maybe it will find it's way back to you in time making it even more endearing to you!

oh superb - my tea cosy is famous! It is used constantly, and yields many an admiring comment from folk.

You are, however, a fool for leaving your precious knitting bag on the train - maybe you should attach things to you in future (like elasticy mittens). I think that's a VERY good idea....but thieving shitty (several other ruder words follow here) person for not handing it in when they found it. Grrr.

Love that boy Isaac in gorgeous cardi! I share your pain about the lost bag....how awful, esp as you were nearly finished - and it could have been for me! Really though, maybe it will turn up...definitely need to stitch a name tag on to all your crafty bags now.

Don't give up hope. It mayyet come back to you. The little babe in the little green cardi (Thats strange to write becasue its my surname by the way with a y)is so cute. Make the most of it before he like my boys did declares wool to be 'itchy'.

Oh what a cute cute little cardigan. And oh what a shame about leaving your knitting bag on the train!! It's always such a heartbreak to lose things without warning, isn't it?

I would have screamed multiple times outside if I found I had lost my knitting bag---that cardigan is beautiful!

The baby is the cutest, and so is that bobbly tea cosy (or, teapot hat, ha).
You probably don't want to talk about it anymore, but, on-my-word, losing the knitting bag and project... I would be sleepless nights for nights and beyond.
But, I hope you'll cheer up; time to gather more new knitting knick-knacks and needles.

Lovely, lovely cardi. wow. wish I could knit.... terrible about your loss. How awful to lose an almost completed item and favourite knitting paraphanalia. Fingers crossed that the bag turns up.

Oh my, you LOST your knitting?! That's actually one of my ridiculous, irrational fears, except that I worry someone will steal my bag (presumably, you know, for my wallet, not my knitting project, which I imagine will be cruelly tossed in the garbage). This silly worry has actually been plaguing me a lot since I've been knitting my current project, possibly because it's taking such a long time. It would just be such a shame if I never got to wear the sweater, or was left with only half enough to yarn to make another. Oh, the anguish! So anyhow, back to you, sorry about your lost knitting bag.

Your nephew looks absolutely darling in this little cardigan though!

How awful to lose your knitting like that - I do hope it finds its way back to you soon.
