belated St Patrick's Day greetings...and a giveaway, at last...

somehow it has slipped my mind until about midday yesterday that it was actually March 17th...I think it may have been the Sunday lunch and afternoon spent with my friend Jane and her family...there is something about fine food, crisp white table linen and glasses of beautifully chilled prosecco that do it for me every time...and on Sunday afternoon did it for me so well that I forgot what day it was on Monday!

anyway, it turns out it was St. Patrick's Day yesterday...I got a late call from my new old pal Marty at RadioFreeNation asking whether I'd go on air and witter about the day a bit and obviously it would have been churlish to refuse...the kids were in bed and I was too hungover to knit...I don't think Marty quite appreciated he would be interviewing the woman who forgot it was St Patrick's day but nevermind that... if you want to hear a bit about the day as celebrated in Southern Ireland in days of yore (that'll be the 70s and 80s folks) click here...

SO... Féile Pádraig Shona Duit, my friends...(you can probably guess what that means, if not email me for a crash course in Gaelic!)

now seems a good time to stop wittering and offer a little giveaway...so leave me a comment to any post this week and I'll put you in the hat to win one of my little hearts...if you can't think of anything else to do with one they take kindly to having pins stuck in them...

tell me Something Nice, about something that makes your heart sing...

The thing that makes my heart sing is a sunny February day, with the daffodils blooming, knowing that the trees will soon be sprouting leaves. That feeling of growth and positivity is so uplifting.

What makes my heart sing ... seeing the smiles on my children's faces (and right at this moment, that my two year old has chosen to do some painting over watching tv - he is obviously picking up the crafting gene!)

My children have been watching a pair of mummy and daddy to be blackbirds collect things for their nest in our little courtyard and are currently setting up home in our old coal shed.
Just seeing the fascination and amazement on their faces is lovely to see.
It makes my heart sing and melt.

Oh goodness, there are so many:

*Hearing the sound of DH's car pull up (stil a born romantic!)
*Spending precious time with my son and letting him know how much we love him - he so often gets pushed to one side.
*This may be a bit contraversial but...being told your disabled child isn't always at the botttom of her class in her mainstream school. All those years of fighting might eventually pay off!
*Having a little crafty time or Mr Postie arriving with new stash!!!

LOL..sorry, I could write an essay!

oooh, I'd love a heart, me me me!!!.....

what makes my heart sing?
oooh, so much....but mostly the kiddywinks - spending time with my big baby because she also so often gets pushed to one side, and the little one gets more attention (because he's a demanding toddler and she's and independent 8yrold). Listening to her read him a story snuggled up on the sofa - it makes me so proud of her, and realise I'm not such a useless mother after all!!! And when anyone says anything nice about either of them - I go all warm and fuzzy and my heart sings all day.

I ALMOST forgot about St. Patrick's day yesterday, but when I did remember, I stuck on a shamrock pin for me and asked my husband to replace his purple tie with my favorite green one that he has! He was so sweet to oblige! Things that make my heart sing? Having the opportunity to bring hope back into someone's life, puppies, good friends, dreaming out loud, and making out with my husband (he he).

Gorgeous little hearts...love the blue ric rac ! What makes my heart sing ? Well the most recent thing was when Maddie planted a yougurty and marmitey kiss on my forehead, for my poorly head, bless her. Music is up there too, and shafts of sunlight on a cold day, the sound of crickets and smell of gorse when sitting on the dunes in Cornwall...ooohhh too much!
(I forgot about St Patricks Day too until I kept coming across clover leaves on the blogs!)

Oh I'd love one of those hearts! My little boy telling me every morning when I wake up that I'll always be his beautiful girl, that makes my heart burst :) x

My heart is singing because I found out a very dear friend whom I haven't seen in over 10 years is going to visit me this summer! What a sweet suggestion to help us think of the goodness in our lives. There is so much of it if one only looks! Thank you for telling me about your give away, your hearts are lovely!!!

When my little 19mth girl strokes my face after saying gentle. When I can hear my two little girls giggling in one of their bedrooms together early in the morning.Makes me sing in my heart, knowing they have each other and are happy.
When my eldest girl says, "I love you" , just out of the blue.
Knowing I have wonderful friends, sisters and parents who I can talk to and share things with, they keep me going and inspired, they help when Im down and join me in my ups and add light to my life.

oohh like others I could write tons here.

Thankyou in wanting to share everyones melty moments!!!

Namaste x

Oh, absolutely, the sweet things my children say and the way my husband still loves me after a dozen years, but at the moment, the thing that's making my heart swell is the book I'm reading: Winter's Tale,, by Mark Helprin. It's incredibly beautiful.

my heart sings while sipping a nice foamy cappucinno, when soaking in a warm tub, when hearing my girls giggle, when Mr. Darcy tells Ms. Bennet that he loves her "most ardently" (pride and prejudice) when my husband makes me laugh...

knitting with a hangover is NEVER a good thing!!

i'm having a particularly bad day, so this is good...a good way to put things in perspective.

what is making my heart sing today...22 wake-up kisses on my temple from my (almost) 4 year old, his wanting to make me breakfast (toast with marmite) and that my six week old slept through the night last night. :)

If you have a moment, drop by my blog. I'm also doing a giveaway for a totebag.

Happy belated St. Pat's day to you too!!

What makes my heart sing is wonderfully colored fabrics. Usually brightly colored. But what most makes my heart sing is our family when we are all happy, contented and in harmony with one another.

Love your hearts...wonderful!

Don't remember going to mass on St P's day though!
Definitely remember the shamrock, trips to the parade and green cream in the Irish coffees!

seeing someone close to me following their dreams makes my heart sing!!...good triumphing over evil...lambs frolicking (though mixed with pangs of guilt as I eat them)....waves on a wild beach....walking though the woods....hearing wood pigeons.....the bubbles overhead as u ascend from a dive...my son....

I found my way here through your tip on Ravenhill's blog, and found myself instantly reading quite a few of your posts. You are having a nice blog here and the green baby cardigan and hat are soo adorable.

Seeing my daughters have fun and being lovable to each other makes my heart sing and just the sight of them sleeping peacefully.

A belated Happy St Patricks Day to you! As for what makes my heart sing it's catching my little girl mothering her little brother when she doesn't even realise I'm watching, and him responding to her with affection.

Things that make my heart sing....wandering into a charity shop and coming out with armfuls of unexpected treasure, the cup of tea that ds makes me every evening at 8pm sharp, the excitement of dd when she spots more buttons to put in her own button and finding just the right pattern for a crochet tea cosy (but I'm still trying to find that one!)

Annie - Your a doll. Thanks so much for joining us on Radio Free Nation...it was a pleasure as always. I hope you didn't think I called you just because you were the only Irish person I knew :-) I wanted to have you on because your a special person with some rare talents...like being able to talk intelligently with a sharp wit in spite of a hang over :-)

If any of your crafter friends are interested in being part of the Radio Free NATION, they can send an email to rfnradio@gmail.com and will be considered for sure.

Not as special as one of your hearts to be sure, but my little way of promoting independent artists. :-)

Thanks again for being on the show, looking forward already to having you on again towards the summer.

Have a great week....and thanks again for being part of the radio free nation.

Cheers,

Marty

It has to be my boys and the way their little faces light up when they see Pops getting off the bus from work after being stuck with me all day, or the way baby G has just learned to clap and wave at 8 mths old or the way M tries to copy Pops dancing across the kitchen floor but mostly laughter, when they laugh you can't help but feel great. Its infectious.

Oh Mrs B, thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of this hearty loveliness!

Heart singing...where to begin. Walking on a crisp sunny day; the sound of my husband's key in the lock; a phonecall from a dear friend; hearing my children play together; the sound of exciting post dropping on the doormat, but the thing that probably most makes me feel as though there is a real danger of my heart actually exploding with happiness is the feeling I get while watching a wonderful ballet performance.

What a fantastic question...the list could go on forever. x

hmm, things that make my heart sing, lots of thing do, but at the moment, it would be on a wednesday, lucy is at school and luke is at nursery, i have the house to myself, peace and quiet to craft, but it also gives me that moment when i go to pick them up, and the big smile on their faces, a cuddle, and then holding their hand on the way home. they get an extra squeeze on a wednesday coz i've missed them.

what makes my heart sing most at the moment is seeing my wonderful girl's imagination develop. She is making up the most amazing stories which are wonderful to hear. Her latest is her own version of Jack and The Beanstalk after seeing a puppet show of it. Here it goes: Olive has a magic crisp that she plants in her bedroom and it grows into an ice cream tree and she gives vanilla (she calls it 'vadilla')ice cream to all her friends. Shame I can't bottle her cute little voice as she told it, that would really make my heart sing forever more.
