london at a standstill...a kimono for Martha...some slippers for some feet

we had some snow...it brought the country to its knees...apparantly 6 million people couldn't get to work yesterday...that's some "duvet day"! those of you used to snow must be hysterical with laughter...

a street junction just up from my house...

the bird house in our back garden...

poor birds must be having a rotten time...mind you we ran out of bird food so they got to enjoy some of my organic super omega wonder food seed mix (at a cost of approximately 10 pence per seed I reckon)...I hope they enjoyed it

there were people snowboarding and skiing (yes, really) in the central London park down the road from where we live (while my kids descended the hill on a small tin tray which they had to fight over...poor sods)

I had my laptop at home so was able to work from there...this is my favourite bit about working from home...mmmm, proper breakfast...

other news... my good friends (fellow campers and dinner circle founder members) Anna and Fraser had themselves a bonny baby girl...as is my wont I had to indulge my love of knitting baby kimono cardis with this result...

NORO Cash Iroha yarn - silk, cashmere and merino - yum yum yum

(I made a change to the pattern this time and only put one button - I like it)

(that little Martha is fairly scrummy too I can tell you - was nearly tempted until I remembered I'll be 40 next week and more nappies might just hasten my end...) (can't believe I just shared that particular piece of info)

(what's with all the brackets?)

(must be imminent senility)

and finally, a visual update on the now felted slippers...

sweet huh?

it's hilarious how crap we are with snow. In Siberia (I read today in the Times) schools close when it is minus 50. Hmm. We got to minus 4 here, and the whole country closed.

Fantabulous cardi, and slippers, missus. LOVE 'em!

Great slipper and very cute cardie. It is quite nice to have a day off in the snow once in a while!

its so rediculous how everything turns to crap because there is a measly inch or two of snow on the ground. There are feet of it at my parents house in Idaho. In fact last week they found a poort little dashaound puppy that was lost (or thrown out of a car) half frozen in the snow... the nursed her back to health and are calling her Frankie as she is a little monster..

love the cardy its beautiful.. and I still want you to do me a little hat!

the cardi is superb and I love the slippers...

I am quite happy having snow at least for a day, and yes I am used to snow and cold winters and remember going to school when it was minus 20 or where there was like a meter deep snow once, nice...

LOVE the kimono (and I love Noro, too). We got a bit of snow too, highly amusing how it grinds everything to a halt :)

The snow was lovely! I also worked from home that day as I didn't have any childcare. It was really nice to stay at home with my daughter.

I really like your baby kimono and felted booties are cute.

Another very cute kimono cardie! Your snowy pics are gorgeous. I hope the girls had fun. We've been off here most of the week with all the schools shut!

Yay for snow days! We usually don't get them here in Colorado unless we have feet and feet of snow, but a couple years ago we did get 4 feet or so and had a couple snow days in a row. FUN!!!

The kimono looks fabulous :D I have yet to felt things. I am too scared that it will felt too much. But your slippers are so cute!
The snow was lovely. It was really fun!

I'd love to have had the opportunity to have been typically British crap with the snow - unfortunately we've had about an inch and that's it. The kids are most disappointed - Grace wants to help Egg with his first ever snowman. No fair.

Those slippers might just be the cutest thing. EVER!
